Energy Best Deal

Citizens Advice has been working on the Energy Best Deal public awareness campaign with support from the energy regulator Ofgem and major energy companies since 2008.
The campaign aims to:
  • make people aware of the savings that can be made by switching fuel providers or negotiating with existing providers
  • provide information about help available from energy suppliers and government for people struggling to pay their gas and electricity bills
  • inform consumers about how they might save money by using less energy, and sources of advice and help around energy efficiency.

How to reduce your energy costs by switching tariff, payment method or supplier

Citizens Advice Powys is once again this year delivering Energy Best Deal sessions to local community groups.

Last winter 77% of people surveyed who had attended an Energy Best Deal session said that they would take action to tackle their energy bills.
Over the years of running Energy Best Deal we have consistently received feedback that a significant number of people who have attended Energy Best Deal sessions find it difficult to take the follow-up actions needed on their own.

To tackle this problem Citizens Advice have developed the ‘Energy Best Deal Extra’ project to provide access to further support directly from a qualified CAB adviser in a one to one appointment.

Appointments can be made for anyone needing energy consumer advice; in addition to matters relating to energy and fuel, the CAB adviser will also support people in other areas of advice if appropriate, for example benefits take up or debt advice.
